"EWUSU," the new CANAL+ ORIGINAL production made in Cameroon

During the Cannes Film Festival, which is currently underway, the team from the International Organization of La Francophonie unveiled the projects selected for funding at the World Cinema Pavilion.

Following the call for projects in January 2023, the "documentaries/series" selection committee selected 11 projects, two of which received the "ACP-EU Bonus" as part of the Clap ACP2 project implemented by the OIF.

Among the selected projects is "EWUSU," the new project by Françoise Ellong, who was recently interviewed by Adweknow. She is particularly known for her feature film W.A.K.A, shot in Cameroon, and for all the initiatives she has undertaken to contribute to the development and structuring of the local film ecosystem. She is also the director of the first daily series produced by CANAL+ ORIGINAL for French-speaking Africa, "Le Futur est à Nous" (The Future is Ours).

This new series, "EWUSU," is a production by WOURI Studios, a company led by Paulette Fotsing and Patrick Kengne Kamga, in co-production with Faissol Gnonlonfin and with the support of the CANAL+ group. Here is the synopsis:

"After extensive studies in psychology and several solid professional experiences, SOYE, a beautiful woman in her early forties and a psychologist by profession, decides to open her own practice in a working-class neighborhood close to where she lives with her husband ÉPOÏ.

However, the residents are not convinced by what they quickly and bluntly refer to as "white people's things," refusing to embrace them and leaving SOYE and her science in a state of prolonged technical unemployment."
