TV5MONDE, official partner and broadcaster of the Francophonie Games

TV5MONDE, the official broadcaster of the Francophonie Summits, will broadcast the 9th Francophonie Games on all its channels this summer. For this new edition, which will take place from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, the global French-language channel is offering special programming to bring viewers around the world the highlights of these Games, including the opening ceremony, the competitions, and the closing ceremony.  

Held every four years in the post-Olympic year (and postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the Francophonie Games invite young people from French-speaking countries to come together for around 20 cultural and sporting competitions and two creative contests. David Douillet and Marie-José Pérec were spotted there at the start of their careers.

TV5MONDE will broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies of the Francophonie Games on all its channels. Several heads of state from the 55 participating countries are also expected to attend the event, including several ministers and official representatives of the member states and governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).  

Sports and cultural events


TV5MONDE will broadcast the events and finals of sports that are particularly popular with viewers, from soccer to basketball, freestyle wrestling, African wrestling, athletics, and judo. The cultural events of the Games will also be featured on TV5MONDE channels, with broadcasts of cultural events such as hip-hop, singing, literature, digital creation, storytelling, and puppetry. TV5MONDE editorial team mobilized

TV5MONDE correspondents in Kinshasa will cover the Francophonie Games throughout their duration. Reports and interviews filmed on site will be featured on the French-language news program "64' Le Monde en français" as well as on Journal Afrique and the channel's international news programs. All competition results will be posted daily on the special "FRANCOPHONIE GAMES" page on the TV5MONDE website.

The channel's social media accounts, Facebook, and YouTube will provide exceptional coverage of the event by broadcasting certain sporting events live.

About the Francophone Games


Every four years during the post-Olympic year, the Francophonie Games bring together more than 3,000 talented young people who share the French language.  The Francophonie Games, under the auspices of the International Organization of La Francophonie, are based on a unique concept that brings together French-speaking youth around sports and the arts, while aiming to strengthen the values of La Francophonie and promote the French language.
The Francophonie Games are organized by the International Committee of the Francophonie Games (CIJF) and the National Committee of the Francophonie Games (CNJF) under the auspices of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).
