A+ BENIN began broadcasting on digital terrestrial television and satellite on July 24, 2023. The channel offers new shows and programming inspired by those that made A+ Ivoire so successful, but with its own Beninese personality:
- LET'S TALK CASH! A debate show hosted by FRIDA ELISHA
, Monday through Friday at 2:00 p.m. - DEFENDS YOUR $50,000, a game show hosted by ELIFAZ HOUNDEKPONDJI
, Monday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. - MY BEAUTIFUL BENIN, a magazine about cultural and tourist discoveries presented by Nabirath Imorou every Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
A+ BENIN aims to be popular, family-friendly, and innovative, promising great entertainment through rich, varied, and mainstream programming. A+ BENIN will broadcast the best series (new or cult classics) from across Africa, some sporting events (the Beninese soccer championship, starting next season in September), and major local events. Its positioning is reflected in its slogan: "THE MIRROR OF THE COUNTRY" … a channel that mirrors Benin's cultural identity, catering to the entire population of BENIN while reflecting its talents.
Ms. Aurelie ADAM SOULE ZOUMAROU, Minister of Digital Technology and Digitalization of Benin, states: "The Beninese government continues its efforts to promote Benin through audiovisual media. A+ BÉNIN aims to reflect a young, modern, and enterprising country. Benin, resolutely focused on the future, is equipping itself with a powerful new television channel that covers all aspects of life in Benin, with programs on society, comedy, fiction, knowledge, and even the country's heritage."
"We are delighted to offer Beninese viewers a channel that will promote their country's cultural diversity and wealth of talent on an international scale. A+BENIN is further proof of our commitment to supporting audiovisual production on the continent, and more specifically in Benin today," adds Clémentine Tugendhat, Director of Thematic Channels at CANAL+INTERNATIONAL.
