Lionel Mandeix was one of the founding members of Agence Voice Africa, created in 2014 and affiliated with the Dentsu network.
He was also the official photographer of Senegalese President Macky Sall, whom he had met when Sall was campaign manager for Abdoulaye Wade, President of Senegal from 2000 to 2012.
"I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Lionel Mandeix, official photographer to the President of the Republic. I would like to pay special tribute to a great professional photographer who was passionate and helpful," tweeted the head of state on his account.
