The Malian High Authority for Communication has ordered the removal of France 2 from all audiovisual packages for four months.
The HAC criticizes a report broadcast in January by France 2 in its 8 p.m. news program for "glorifying terrorism" by contrasting "the firepower of armed terrorist groups" with that of the Malian armed forces.
In its letter to distributors, it refers to "serious breaches" of journalistic ethics, aimed at "demoralizing the troops and the population."
This decision follows numerous other bans in the Sahel region in recent months concerning the broadcasting of French or foreign media.
