The Champions League tender for the 2024-2027 period in Africa has just been decided.
CANAL+ has just announced in a press release that it has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights for the next three seasons for the top Wednesday night match and the UEFA Champions League final, as well as the UEFA Super Cup.
"We are delighted to be able to continue offering our African subscribers exclusive access to the best match on Wednesdays and the final of one of the most prestigious European soccer competitions. This is fully in line with CANAL+'s approach in Africa: we want our subscribers to have access to the best of international soccer," said Jacques du Puy, President of CANAL+ INTERNATIONAL.
For its part, New World TV announced on its website that it had acquired the broadcasting rights for the Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League, and Youth League for the 2024/2025, 2025/2026, and 2026/2027 seasons.
The agreement covers 26 territories in sub-Saharan Africa in French and local languages. This will enable New World TV to broadcast more than 525 live matches each season from 2024/2025 to 2026/2027 from these four competitions.
New World TV Group announces that "it will also explore options for working closely with national broadcasters in these 26 territories to maximize media exposure for UEFA club competitions."
On the English-speaking side, SuperSport announced that it had extended its rights for three years.
