The 2024 Olympic Games on RTI

In light of the extraordinary enthusiasm generated by recent sporting events successfully broadcast on Ivorian channels in recent years (the 2022 World Cup on NCI and the 2023 African Cup of Nations on NCI, CANAL+, and RTI), RTI has just announced that it has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights (television, radio, and digital) for the Paris Olympic Games, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

Unlike soccer events, whose rights are often sold at the last minute, preventing channels from promoting their investment to advertisers, the decision to broadcast this summer's major event was made fairly early on.

It must be said that broadcasting the Olympic Games is a major undertaking, given the number of events taking place simultaneously and the amount of live coverage offered.

Finding enough journalists to commentate on the large number of disciplines on offer; generating public interest by highlighting the challenges in many little-known disciplines in which no national representatives will be present. Filling the gaps between key moments, which always turn out to be far more numerous than one might imagine… Programming the Olympic Games is nothing like broadcasting soccer matches and requires a great deal of organization, resources, and commitment on the part of broadcasters and their teams.

With its three channels, RTI 1, RTI 2, and La 3, its radio stations, and its digital power, we bet that RTI will be able to achieve its goal of "uniting the entire Ivorian nation around a passion and commitment to sport, highlighting the exceptional performances of our athletes and fostering a sense of unity and national pride through the Paris 2024 Olympic Games."

It should be noted that TV5 Monde announced in October 2023 that it had acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2024 Olympic Games in Africa in order to promote French-speaking athletes and France.
