After reaching one million readers on the continent a year ago, YouScribe, the digital streaming library, has announced the launch of its operations in Ghana. This is an important milestone, as YouScribe is strengthening its presence in English-speaking Africa following its launch in South Africa in 2021.
To accelerate its growth, the company has focused on diversifying its offering and expanding internationally to capture new market opportunities. This successful strategy has been made possible thanks to strategic partnerships with Orange, Digital Virgo (mobile payments and digital marketing) and CANAL+. Digital Virgo is also the strategic partner chosen for its expansion into Ghana.
"The launch of YouScribe in Ghana is an important and ambitious step in our aspiration to connect cultures through a multilingual digital library featuring authors from across the continent. We are very proud to be able to showcase Ghanaian culture in our library," said YouScribe founder Juan Pirlot de Corbion in an official statement.
As a reminder, Youscribe, founded in France in 2011, has established itself as a model digital library providing access to over a million books via mobile devices. Today, the startup has become the largest streaming library in France and is expanding rapidly across Africa. This is hardly surprising, given that 95% of its readership is based on the African continent. Among the most popular formats, e-books remain the most widely consulted, accounting for 70% of reads, ahead of audiobooks and comic books. In addition, 90% of reads on the platform are in French.
Today, the startup operates in 14 African countries and continues to embody its ambition to make reading accessible to as many people as possible and to improve education standards across the African continent.
