On April 29, the CANAL+ group launched its new fiction channel "Pulaagu" to highlight the customs and traditions of the Peulh culture.
"We have launched several channels in Africa, and today we are launching Pulaagu, which will be of interest to a number of countries, including Senegal, the Republic of Guinea, Mauritania, Mali, and others. Pulaar is spoken in five or six countries in which we operate. In terms of numbers, it is an important language on the continent, particularly in West and Central Africa," said Cheikh Sarr, CEO of Canal+ Senegal.
On the same day, the group also launched "MANDEKA," dedicated to series and theater in Bambara and Malinké, offering authentic entertainment to the Mandinka people of Mali, Guinea, Senegal, and elsewhere.
It should be noted that the CANAL+ group has been committed for several years to a strategy of producing local content for the African continent in order to get closer to its subscribers. The group had also chosen to offer more African content by launching ten new local and international television channels, including SUNU YEUF, a 100% Senegalese channel published by Théma.
