TV5Monde Afrique will broadcast the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
TV5Monde Afrique has been broadcasting the Olympic Games since the Rio Games in 2016. These were the first Games for which rights for sub-Saharan Africa had been negotiated.
For the Paris 2024 Games, TV5Monde Afrique is putting in place a major operation, as the channel will broadcast 12 or 13 hours of competition live each day.
The channel will offer its own programming schedule for the events, taking into account the presence of African teams or athletes, and will rely on a team of commentators and consultants assembled especially for the occasion.
This is excellent news for sports fans in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa, as the channel is available on CANAL+ packages and will therefore be viewable in all countries without the need for a specific subscription.
It should be noted that, among all the free-to-air television channels in the region, only RTI has announced that it has acquired the rights to the upcoming Olympic Games.
