73.7% of Ivorians get their news from the internet and digital media.

The survey conducted by the National Press Authority (ANP) with the support of the Media Support and Development Agency (ASDM) in Côte d'Ivoire on the question of "How do Ivorians get their information? " shows that the internet, digital media, and television are almost equally popular sources of information for the Ivorian population.

75.7% of respondents say they use television to keep up with the news, and 73.7% of Ivorians use digital media and the internet for this purpose .

This is particularly true among young people under 35, more than 80% of whom use digital media and social networks to stay informed.

Among those who say they use the Internet and digital media to stay informed, 98% say they do so through social media and 51.7% through Google.

In terms of social media, Facebook (94.7%) is by far the most frequently cited source, followed by WhatsApp (44.3%) and TikTok (43.8%).

Despite the high cost of Internet access—according to the latest AFRICASCOPE 2023 study, only 49% of Ivorians surf the Internet daily—the Internet and digital media have become an indispensable tool for Ivorians.

The only downside is that only 50.8% of them really trust the Internet, while 66.1% really trust television.
