3rd Edition of MIP Africa 2024: Mediawan Africa expands its presence on the continent.

Abidjan-Paris, August 1, 2024

An unmissable annual event that brings together producers, broadcasters, platforms, and telecom operators, MIP AFRICA will take place this year from September 2 to 4, 2024, in Cape Town. MEDIAWAN AFRICA (Côte Ouest, Keewu Production) will be there with the aim of expanding its presence and highlighting the diversity of its activities and the strength of its partnerships. Côte Ouest will welcome its long-standing partner Globo to the Mediawan Africa stand this year.

For more than 25 years, Côte Ouest and Globo have enjoyed an exclusive partnership in Africa, which has grown stronger over the years. To date, Côte Ouest has acquired 9,000 hours of successful premium content from the Brazilian giant.

This content, carefully dubbed by Côte Ouest's in-house studio, Studio1, or by external service providers, is then distributed in more than 50 countries in Africa, Europe, and North America.

Following the success of Black Santiago Club (Canal+ International), Keewu Production recently produced the Canal+ Original series Lex Africana, the first premium action series in West Africa, in co-production with Shimazu Productions.

Last year, the production company also developed a partnership with the Republic of Benin and TV5Monde, the global French-language channel, to create the daily series Le Meilleur est à venir (The Best is Yet to Come). Keewu is currently producing a new thriller series, Playgame, in co-production with Canal+ International. This ensemble series, combining suspense and romance, will be broadcast soon.

Jonathan Lett, Managing Director of Côte Ouest: "It is always a pleasure for us to support the African audiovisual industry by sharing our expertise, know-how, and partnerships. I am delighted to be participating in MIP AFRICA, as it gives us the opportunity to talk to all our clients and gain a better understanding of developments in this dynamic market, in which Côte Ouest Audiovisuel is innovating more and more every year."

Alexandre Rideau, CEO of Keewu and Mediawan Africa's operational activities: Mediawan Africa's participation in this exceptional event demonstrates our commitment to the development of the African audiovisual industry. We are particularly pleased to be in South Africa this year to roll out our business in English-speaking Africa. We are actively seeking projects, talent, and new collaborations to create a new generation of premium African fiction."
