CANAL+UNIVERSITY, in partnership with Convergence and the French Development Agency (AFD), is launching a call for projects aimed at young African creators who are invited to produce an original and socially conscious short film on the theme: "African Youth and Audiovisual Media: Different Perspectives."
The call for proposals is strictly reserved for African project leaders supported by a clearly identified organization based on the continent (training centers, associations, cultural institutions).
Projects must be carried out in Africa, in French, have a maximum duration of 6 to 8 minutes, and be aimed at a young audience.
Selection criteria
- Originality of the subject matter, quality of writing, and relevance of the perspective on African youth
- Strength of storytelling, clarity of message, social impact, ability to evoke emotion
- Relevance of topics (education, entertainment, inclusion, ecology, disability, gender, etc.).
- Overall consistency of the project, technical and financial feasibility.
- Strong local roots and involvement of local stakeholders.
Special attention will be given to projects led by women, those that include training or skills development initiatives, those that include people with disabilities, or those that promote ecological transition through culture.
Application deadline: June 9, 2025
Selected candidates will receive a professional filming kit including a Sony PXW-FX9 camera, a Rode shotgun microphone, V-Mount batteries, and other essential equipment.
