France 24 surpasses one million subscribers on its French-language WhatsApp channel dedicated to Africa

(Press release)

Launched last October, France 24's French-language WhatsApp channel dedicated to Africa has just surpassed one million subscribers in just eight months.

Specially designed for African audiences and anyone who wants to follow news from the continent on the region's most widely used messaging app, this channel offers direct, convenient, and responsive access to African news: political, economic, social, cultural, and more.

France 24 Afrique capitalizes on its flagship program Le journal de l'Afrique, as well as many other popular shows, to offer a selection of varied content every day. All of this is available directly on mobile devices, making information increasingly accessible and responsive.

Building on the success of its general-interest channel in French, with nearly 4.5 million subscribers, making France 24 the leading French media outlet on WhatsApp, the international rolling news channel is continuing its digital development, closely aligned with its audiences' usage patterns.

With more than 10 million subscribers to their general and themed WhatsApp channels, France 24, RFI, and MCD are enjoying huge success on the messaging app, making France Médias Monde the leading French media group on the platform.
