CANAL+ will no longer subscribe to the Africascope study in 2026.

According to our information, CANAL+ will end its participation in the Africascope study in 2026.

The CANAL+ group, which, along with France Télévisions, France Media Monde, and TV5 Monde, initiated the study, remained its main subscriber when the France Media Monde channels and stations (France 24 and RFI) and TV5 Monde switched to CANAL+ADVERTISING for their advertising sales.

The acquisition of South African company Multichoice by the CANAL+ group will be made official on September 23, a few days before the official closing date of the proceedings initiated in South Africa.

This acquisition will significantly change the scope, offerings, and organization of the group in the coming years.

In this context, advertising inventory sales tools will likely need to evolve, which may explain CANAL+'s decision.

In addition, since 2024, CANAL+ADVERTISING has had its own audience measurement tool: Africamat, on which it now bases its sales pitches.

Nevertheless, despite CANAL+'s decision to discontinue the survey, the AFRICASCOPE study will continue in the coming years with the support of local subscribers and major audiovisual groups active in French-speaking Africa.

It should be noted that Kantar, which conducts the Africascope study, is also the operator chosen by the HACA to measure television, radio, and internet audiences in Côte d'Ivoire.
