ZIFFA, a new film festival in Senegal

The first edition of Ziffa (Ziguinchor International Film Festival & Animation) will take place in Casamance from November 12 to 15, 2025.

This new film festival aims to promote the Ziguinchor region through a pan-African and international artistic program, while highlighting cultural diversity, youth creativity, and the potential of southern Senegal in the field of cultural and creative industries.

Special attention will be paid to young people, with a dedicated program including a 12-day stop motion workshop, storytelling sessions, and special screenings.

The theme chosen for this first edition is "Women in the Spotlight."

It is an invitation to highlight, through cinema and the visual arts, the stories, voices, journeys, and talents of women. This theme allows us to explore the question of female representation on and behind the screen, to celebrate inspiring female figures, and to question the persistent inequalities in the film industry and society.

Several categories of films will be in competition.

  • Feature film from the subregion
  • International feature film
  • West Africa New Generation

A call for films, which will close on September 30, has been launched.
