Interview with Joël-Amos Badi, Deputy Director of Programs at NCI

Hello, Joel-Amos BADI

You must be very busy at the start of this new academic year in 2025. What are the main new features planned for your program schedule?

JAB: Actually, we are currently focused on our coverage of the presidential campaign, which will keep us busy until mid-November.

So you're planning special programming for this period?

Information is one of the key aspects of our channel. Ali Diarassouba, our news director and presenter of political programs such as NCI 360, is well known and respected by politicians and viewers alike.

He is therefore the host of our new daily political program: "Quotidienne Info," which we launched on August 18 and which airs from 7:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until the presidential election, the second round of which will take place in mid-November.

The program features numerous experts, consultants, and journalists who analyze, comment on, and debate current political events. There are also, of course, interviews with political guests.

This program, presented by Ali Diarrassouba, consists of four main sections: "The Checkpoint" presented by Alassane Drabo, the Main News, the Daily Guest, and the Grand Duel. The news program retains its broadcast time and duration and is integrated into the Daily News.

How is the content of Télé d'ici evolving, part of which was devoted to the news of the day?

Télé d’ici will, of course, continue to be broadcast from 6:30 p.m. to 7:25 p.m., with a focus more on entertainment and covering non-political social issues.

What about other types of programs? For several years now, we have been very active in broadcasting sporting events. We started with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, then broadcast the Champions League, the UEFA Nations League, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, and this summer, the Club World Cup. As we did last season, we will also broadcast one live Champions League match each day starting on September 16.

There will also be the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the end of the year. Will it be broadcast exclusively on your channel?

Yes, we will be broadcasting the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from December 21 to January 18, featuring matches played by the Ivory Coast national team and a selection of the best matches from the competition.

These rights are not exclusive, but to my knowledge, we are currently the only ones to have announced the acquisition of these free-to-air TV rights in Ivory Coast.

What about the rest of the grid?

As for the rest of the schedule, we can say that our real "program launch" will take place after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. We are already working on further improving our schedule for the enjoyment of our viewers.

The HACA has just published the first audience figures measured by Kantar. Is this information useful to you?

These audience ratings put us in an excellent position. We are leading the ratings across all channels based on the latest results (June 2025). We are therefore very satisfied with these results and with our programming schedule. The information provided by audience ratings is extremely useful in terms of programming, as it allows us to identify the time slots where we are strong and need to consolidate, as well as those where we need to focus our improvement efforts. The monthly publication of results is excellent, as it allows us to be more responsive in adapting and/or improving our schedules.
