Do not confuse SIMA with SIMA.

SIMA is an acronym that may cause confusion in Africa at the moment, as it refers to two major but distinct events that will take place a few days apart: the International African Media Exhibition, which will be held in Dakar from October 27 to 31, 2025.

and the African Music Industry Fair, which will take place in COTONOU on November 13 and 14.

Like all major events, these two gatherings aim to promote dialogue, visibility, networking, and professionalization in their respective sectors.

Each event brings together African and international professionals, artists, decision-makers, and investors, and features conferences, round tables, and master classes on current topics.

The SIMA (International African Media Exhibition) aims to promote the development of African media, facilitate the exchange of expertise and partnerships.

Its central theme will be "Africa facing new media challenges," which encompasses technological changes, regulatory challenges, economic sustainability, and the strategic role of the media in governance and democracy.

SIMA (Salon des Industries Musicales d'Afrique) is dedicated to promoting and professionalizing the music industry in French-speaking Africa.

Events will be organized around the theme "Promoting and financing music from French-speaking Africa." The program includes an immersive artist residency, a dynamic trade show, master classes on music for film with TV5Monde, sessions on music financing and monetization, and a grand finale concert bringing together emerging and established talent.

These two SIMAs should not be confused. One is a showcase for the African media sector, the other a catalyst for the music industry in French-speaking Africa. Each plays an essential role in Africa's cultural and economic development, offering participants content tailored to their specific needs.
