Yann Armel Djiproh has been Community Manager at Côte Ouest Audiovisuel since 2019. What are your main responsibilities?
My job is to represent Côte Ouest Audiovisuel on social media, promoting and developing its brand image and online reputation. My mission is to bring together and inform the communities that follow us about the various content distributed by our company (telenovelas, series) as well as its various news items.
We are mainly present on Facebook and YouTube, and we will soon be developing our presence on Instagram.
What skills do you need to develop for this job?
- A way with words
- Creativity to produce content that interests communities
- The ability to listen to your community and social media trends in order to adapt your communication strategy
What academic or non-academic background did you need to get here?
I didn't follow an academic path to get into this job. It was my professional experience that got me here. I previously worked at a digital agency, notably on communication projects for the Dinor brand of the Sania group. Personally, I'm passionate about social media. I am constantly connected; it's a necessity for me. It's important to be connected at all times, especially when it comes to monitoring the competition, observing what's going on, anticipating trends, and staying ahead of the competition.
Do
you collaborate with other departments?
As Community Manager at Côte Ouest, I work in synergy with other departments within the company. For example, I collaborate with a team of editors for the video content we publish.
What are the advantages of your job and what are the main difficulties?
In my opinion, the main difficulty concerns crisis management and the strategy put in place to inform our community and moderate comments and discussions created on social networks.
The second difficulty, which represents a real challenge for our business, is the internet connection.
On the positive side, one of the main advantages of this job is the direct contact with customers.
Do you have any advice or anecdotes to share with us?
In Ivory Coast, the role of Community Manager is becoming increasingly important, particularly during this period of health crisis and lockdown. Many companies need to communicate on social media in order to reach their targets and ensure their visibility and presence.
My advice to those seeking opportunities in Community Management is to take the time to get proper training to learn the job, because opportunities in this field do exist.
