MultiChoice wants to devote a significant portion of its budget to the production of African content.

To counter the arrival of new competitors on the market, MultiChoice intends to play the local content card to stand out and strengthen its position. The pay-TV operator plans to devote a significant portion of its budget to producing 100% African content to compete with international streaming giants.

In Africa, MultiChoice now has 900,000 more subscribers, according to figures published last March. The pay-TV operator now has 21.79 million subscribers, 41% of whom are in South Africa and 59% in the rest of sub-Saharan Africa.

It should also be noted that in less than a year, CANAL+'s stake in Multichoice has more than tripled, rising from less than 5% to 15.37%, further confirming the CANAL+ group's interest in the non-French-speaking part of the African continent.
