RFI and France 24 reach nearly 11 million people in nine French-speaking African capitals every week (out of a total population of 18 million in these cities).
In 2018, RFI and France 24 confirmed their success in French-speaking African countries and their leading positions in terms of brand awareness and audience ratings, according to the results of the 2018 Africascope* study conducted by Kantar-TNS in eight countries: Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Bamako (Mali), Brazzaville (Congo), Dakar (Senegal), Douala and Yaoundé (Cameroon), Kinshasa (DRC), Libreville (Gabon), and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). In these nine cities, nearly 60% of residents say they listen to at least one of the two media outlets every week, meaning that nearly 11 million people are loyal to France Médias Monde's media outlets. In addition, their brand awareness remains high, reaching all executives and managers (99%) and up to 85% of the general public. The digital results of RFI and France 24 complement the enthusiasm of French-speaking African countries for the two media outlets. With more than 5.4 million cumulative monthly visits** to their own environments and continuously growing communities on social networks with high engagement rates, RFI and France 24 are consolidating their status as the leading connected news providers in the region.
RFI and France 24 remain more than ever the benchmarks for news in French-speaking Africa. As revealed by the Africascope 2018 study, for more than half of the population and almost all executives and managers, RFI stands out for the professionalism of its journalists and their in-depth coverage of news on the continent, while France 24 is the leading television channel for news in Africa, enabling viewers to form opinions on the main topics in world news.
