Netflix investit dans la co-production en Afrique du Sud

Netflix poursuit son ambition d’investir dans la production de contenu local pour capter de nouveaux abonnés sur le continent africain.

Récemment, le géant de la VOD a annoncé vouloir accélérer sa stratégie de création de contenus originaux grâce à un investissement d’une valeur de 62 millions de dollars dédiés à la coproduction.

Pour commencer, c’est l’Afrique du Sud qui bénéficiera de cet investissement avec des productions créées avec des partenaires locaux tels que Film Afrika, Gambit Films ou encore QUIZZICAL Pictures, permettant de  booster l’industrie cinématographique et audiovisuelle locale.

Netflix a ajouté avoir déjà investi près de 140 millions de dollars dans la co-production de contenu sud-africain, au cours des cinq dernières années. 

Mais Netflix n’est pas seul sur le marché, concurrencé de près par des acteurs comme Disney+.
