JM2I: branding, a driver of growth for Ivorian businesses?

The first edition of the Innovative Ivorian Brand Days (JM2I) will be held from December 19 to 22.

Organized by the Ivorian Intellectual Property Office (OIPI), this first edition will focus on the theme: "Brands: a lever for business development."

This initiative, launched by Koffi Paul Assandé, Director General of the OIPI, aims to develop a genuine brand culture in Côte d'Ivoire, but also to popularize the principle of intellectual property throughout the country. SMEs and large companies are invited to take part in this event, which will feature discussions, panels led by experts, and masterclasses to understand how to develop a brand to make it more competitive. Awards will also be presented to recognize the most innovative Ivorian brands.

Other initiatives have recently been launched to support brand development in Côte d'Ivoire, notably with the creation of the Brand Africa Côte d'Ivoire ranking. Since 2010, the Brand Africa 100: Africa's Best Brands ranking has been analyzing and listing brands and companies in Africa, based on a Geopoll study conducted in more than 25 countries and data analysis carried out by Kantar and Brand Leadership, but also more specifically in Côte d'Ivoire since 2022.

The goal? To promote brand and reputation management as a driver of economic development, develop learning and best practices, and promote Côte d'Ivoire and its local brands.

In this ranking, we observe that:

  • Samsung is the international brand most admired by Ivorian consumers
  • MTN remains the No. 1 African brand;
  • Life TV is the most admired media brand in Côte d'Ivoire;
  • Among purely Ivorian brands, Solibra is the most admired Ivorian brand.
