Médiamétrie has just published a press release concerning the survey conducted with its partner Omedia from September 29 to October 14, October 27 to November 11, and November 24 to December 9, 2024, on the Senegalese market.
The survey is based on a sample of 1,409 people aged 15 and over, living in the four municipalities that make up Greater Dakar.
As usual, Médiamétrie reserves the results of this study for its clients, but publishes a few key indicators, the main elements of which are as follows
Compared to the latest study conducted by Mediamétrie in Senegal in 2021, the cumulative TV audience has grown by 9%, while the radio audience has collapsed, losing nearly 30% of its audience. Internet usage is at an all-time high, with a 22% increase in the number of people who use the Internet every day or almost every day.
Television

Radio
The cumulative radio audience represents 38.4% of the population. Listeners tuned in to the radio for an average of 1 hour and 14 minutes per day (Monday-Friday). ZIK FM and RFM are the
most listened to stations in Senegal, accounting for almost two-thirds of the radio audience (61.2%), ahead of WALF FM and SUD FM.
Internet
Residents of Greater Dakar were also asked about their personal smartphone ownership. More than 9 out of 10 people (92.8%) own a smartphone.
When it comes to internet use, 90% of respondents accessed the internet every day or almost every day from a smartphone. Social media
use remains steady: 85.5% of individuals are registered on at least one social network, with TikTok overtaking Facebook with 88.8% of users (compared to 75.1%), followed by Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
