France Médias Monde launches ZOA

On Wednesday, October 1, France Médias Monde launched ZOA ("the lucky star" in Central Africa), a new 100% digital media outlet designed by and for young French-speaking Africans.

Its main mission is to portray Africa as it is experienced, imagined, and transformed by its youth, giving a voice to those who are driving change on the continent and wish to project a positive image of it.

Through reports, life stories, culture, content on civic engagement, entrepreneurship, innovation, and sports, the platform aims to break down stereotypes by presenting an authentic and ambitious image.

ZOA's editorial team is led by Kaourou MAGASSA, editor-in-chief, and Cécile COUDOU, deputy editor-in-chief. It has 10 journalists from five African countries and relies on a network of correspondents in 11 African countries (Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Benin, Guinea, Senegal, Chad, Mauritania, Morocco, Burundi).

ZOA content is exclusively distributed on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp in the form of short videos, analyses, interactive magazines, and dynamic live streams, in order to align with the habits of young African audiences. The media outlet also focuses on combating misinformation by offering verified content and rigorous analysis. The first publications began in mid-September 2025.

In line with FMM, TV5MONDE announced a few days ago the launch of C'CARRE, a new 100% digital media outlet aimed at 15-18 year olds in the French-speaking world, produced by young journalists and broadcast on the same platforms (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp).
