MS. SALY SILUE KONATE DIRECTOR OF RADIO COTE D'IVOIRE
What is RADIO COTE D'IVOIRE's positioning?
Radio Côte d'Ivoire is a generalist station, but strategically it focuses on news and sports, a niche that is promising for those who understand the importance of information and have a passion for sports, particularly soccer.
There are a large number of stations in the Ivorian radio landscape. How do you view the evolution of Radio Côte d'Ivoire in this competitive environment?
In this fiercely competitive environment since 1990, when the radio broadcasting market opened up in Ivory Coast, Radio Côte d’Ivoire, the country's institutional channel and leading radio station, has come out on top because it has been able to gradually implement the necessary editorial and structural changes, while remaining true to its mission, to stay at the top of the list of the most listened-to radio stations in Ivory Coast.
What is Radio Côte d'Ivoire's target audience?
Radio Côte d'Ivoire is aimed at all audiences: young people, adults, seniors, women, and children. All of these audiences thrive on information, which is why we are developing and working to give visibility to the station's content on digital platforms and networks such as Facebook and YouTube, not to mention the creation of a mobile app.
Our credo is to always be closer to our listeners.
What are the flagship programs in your schedule?
We have a rich and diverse program schedule. We have many flagship programs, but we will mention just a few: First, of course, there is Radio Côte d'Ivoire's "La Grande Matinale" from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., which offers a clever mix of news, general and sports reports, and magazines.
It should be noted that this slot alone reinforces our promise to be No. 1 in news and sports.
Daily programs such as "Santé Plurielle," "Ça cartonne plus," "À l'écoute des jeunes," "Confidences," and "Vérité des sports" are also highly rated.
You mention that sports are an important part of the
programming. What competitions and programs can be found on Radio Côte d'Ivoire?
Indeed, sports are an important part of Radio Côte d'Ivoire's programming, which is built around news and sports. All sports are covered in the sports segments.
But, of course, soccer, known as the king of sports, occupies a prominent place in our schedule. All domestic and international soccer events are covered.
Competitions such as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the UEFA Champions League, the Europa League and the Europa League Conference, the 2023 Basketball World Cup in Indonesia, for which the Ivorian basketball team has qualified, and the 2023 CHAN in Algeria, to name but a few, will be covered on our stations.
For now, we invite the public to follow the 2022-2023 Côte d'Ivoire Ligue 1, Ligue 2, and D3 championships live on Radio Côte d'Ivoire
. What are the new programs for the 2022 season?
With a view to getting even closer to our listeners, our schedule has been enriched with new local news, debate and entertainment programs.
These include "Radio Côte d'Ivoire chez vous," "Le Forum de la Presse," "La Marche des champions" and "EDIN'GOA" (a storytelling program).
Mariam COULIBALY DIRECTOR OF FREQUENCE 2
What is FREQUENCE 2's positioning?
FREQUENCE 2 is a themed radio station focused on entertainment. We make it a point of honor to offer more than 60% music, comedy, and games.
Who is its target
audience
?
Young people in particular, although we recognize that larger segments of the population identify with our content and follow us assiduously.
How do you view the recent evolution of your station?
We are quite satisfied with the evolution of FREQUENCE 2 in terms of the qualitative leap it has made over the last ten years. From the twists and turns of the rankings, we have managed to propel ourselves into the top three most listened-to radio stations in Côte d'Ivoire, and we intend to continue our momentum: listening to the expectations of listeners and internet users while making the radio useful and offering a distinctive service.
What are its flagship programs?
During the
week, the main productions are:
The morning show called "Le P'tit Dej," which we serve up with enthusiasm and freshness, a real boost for our listeners, who find useful information there.
The daily retro segment with "La Parade des Hits"
"Toute la Ville en Parle," our debate on social issues
"Place Publique," the agora where infotainment reigns
The promotion of success stories and young talent is featured in "Un Truc 2 Ouf" and "La Radio Vous Écoute," our evening confidence break.
On weekends, we highlight specialized music, our quiz "La Côte d'Ivoire en questions" (Côte d'Ivoire in questions), and a program like "FREQUENCE 2 DANS MON ECOLE" (FREQUENCY 2 IN MY SCHOOL), in which we promote the school and the role models who have come out of it.
Have you launched any new programs for the 2022 school year?
Our schedule continues to be tried and tested, and we are making our presence felt at major audience crossroads. We are also working hard to improve our content. For this season, for example, we have sections such as "Le booster" (The Booster), where we turn role models into coaches for young people, and "La mention spéciale" (Special Mention), which allows listeners to thank their benefactors. These are just a few of the innovations we have introduced to give our listeners and internet users a voice.
